Supporting Autism Awareness: A Powerful Evening with Caudwell Children
An Evening Dedicated to a Cause Close to My Heart
I recently had the privilege of joining an incredible group of people for an evening dedicated to raising awareness and support for children with autism. Surrounded by friends, business leaders, and passionate advocates, the event shone a light on the realities families face and the work being done to ensure no child is left without the help they deserve.
Hosted by John Caudwell and the inspiring team at Caudwell Children, the night highlighted the challenges autistic children experience every day, and the importance of giving them the tools, understanding, and support they need to thrive.
Learning More About Autism
For many, autism is still misunderstood. Events like this help bridge that gap. Caudwell Children works tirelessly to support families with diagnostic services, therapy, financial support, and resources that change lives.

Their work is essential. Autism can affect communication, learning, and daily life, and early support makes all the difference.

A Personal Moment of Realisation
This event meant even more to me personally. I found out
at the age of 59 that I am autistic. For most of my life, I didn’t know why I thought differently, processed things differently, or approached the world in my own way. Like many adults, I went through life without a diagnosis: adapting, pushing forward, and building a career without ever understanding the full picture.
But understanding came later in life, and with it came clarity. It also made me determined to ensure younger people don’t go through life feeling misunderstood or unsupported.
No one should feel alone.
Events like this matter because they remind us that help is available, understanding is growing, and that we can all play a part in making life easier for autistic children and their families.
A Night Filled With Purpose
Between conversations, shared stories, and learning more about the charity’s work, the evening was a powerful reminder that community is everything.
Together, we raised funds, awareness, and — most importantly — hope.
I’m grateful to everyone who made the night possible and to those continuing to support autism charities across the UK. Thank you for the invitation and for the important work you do.
Let’s Support Autism Awareness Together
Autistic children deserve understanding, patience, opportunities, and a world that sees their strengths, not their limitations.
If you are able, please consider supporting Caudwell Children or taking a moment to learn more about autism. The more awareness we create, the more inclusive and supportive our society becomes.
Let’s show children and adults living with autism that they are not alone — and never will be.
